Week 15 Recap

Game of the Week: The Comeback Kids (101) @ The Pessimists (94)

The Comeback Kids took their show on the road to Camden this week and pulled out a huge victory to climb into the sixth playoff spot with two weeks to play. The Kids had a monster performance from Vincent Jackson, as the maligned wide receiver pulled in 3 touchdowns on TNF to post 29 points. Coach Daniel Campbell was very pleased with running back Jamaal Charles, who posted 20 points on a limited number of carries as the Chiefs try to keep him fresh for the playoffs. The Pessimists were riddled once again by a lack of production from the running game, as Jahvid Best produced only one point out of his RB2 position. Coach BJ Hudson is pessimistic about the run game getting on track, stating simply that "we suck."

Week 15 Preview

Game of the Week: The Comeback Kids (+3) @ The Pessimists

These two teams are separated by one game and the winner of this one will be in prime position to make a late season run towards the playoffs. The Comeback Kids got off to a great start on TNF with Vincent Jackson grabbing 3 touchdown passes and posting 29 points. Coach Daniel Campbell likes the matchups he has with running backs Michael Turner and Jamaal Charles going into the weekend and will look to them to lead his team to victory. The Pessimists got off to a great start as well behind quarterback Philip Rivers, who torched the San Francisco secondary to the tune of 28 points. Coach BJ Hudson is rolling the dice on the Miami Dolphins' defense as they face the Buffalo Bills. Look for this game to be determined by the flex positions.

Charlie's Redrockets (+38) @ One-Man Wolf Pack

While this game appears to be a mismatch on paper, there is a reason why the games are settled on the field. Charlie's Redrockets' quarterback situation is murky at best, with Aaron Rodgers questionable after suffering his second concussion of the season this past weekend. Coach Matthew Campbell believes that his squad is still in good position, however, as he owns three upper level quarterbacks on his roster. The Wolf Pack will look to clinch a playoff spot with a victory behind the continued resurgence of running back Darren McFadden. Coach Zach Maddux is hopeful that Adrian Peterson can carry the load for a depleted Minnesota offense and lead his team to victory. Look for this game to be determined by the running game.

Young Gun Football (-10) @ The Hail Marys

These two teams with identical records will meet up for their second clash this year. YGF will look to their big play wide receivers to continue to make the difference between winning and losing. Coach Jason Young has been very pleased with the recent play of Jason Witten and Knowshon Moreno and is hopeful that they will maintain their current level of play for the rest of the season. The Hail Marys have been hit with a bombshell late in their preparations, as it was announced that quarterback Donovan McNabb will not start on Sunday. Coach Tara Campbell reportedly got into a heated altercation with Mike Shanahan that later became physical. Rumors are swirling that Albert Haynesworth was involved as well, landing an 'Earthquake Splash' on Shanahan to the delight of Coach Campbell. Look for this game to be decided by the matchup between Ahmad Bradshaw and the Philadelphia defense.

Illegal Alien Babies (-5) @ Riley's Vikings

The Illegal Alien Babies are in the holiday spirit, as they are looking to give Riley's Vikings a Mexican smack-down just before Christmas. The Aliens will continue to rely on a balanced offensive attack, spearheaded by quarterback Josh Freeman and running back LaGarrette Blount. Coach Darrell Campbell is optimistic that Fred Jackson can get back on track and that his twin tight end set will present matchup problems on Sunday. Riley's Vikings are looking to stay in the playoff hunt behind the red-hot play of Tom Brady and the stingy defense of the Cleveland Browns. Coach Adam Warren is excited to return to the island this week, where the rowdy Memphis natives are notoriously loud and obnoxious. Look for the outcome of this game to be determined by the running backs.

Safety Blitz (-7) @ The Hit Squad

Safety Blitz will take their act on the road to visit Montery and the Hit Squad this week. Safety Blitz will look to start the right mix of running backs on Sunday, as they have a stable full of capable mail carriers. Coach Phillip Campbell said that practice has been fierce this week as they are taking a playoff mentality into this week's game. The Hit Squad will look to get back on track after having their five game win streak snapped last week. Coach David Looper is rumored to be letting special guest Sidell Roland call the plays from the sideline on Sunday, but that has yet to be confirmed. Look for this game to be decided by the defenses.

Manager Prediction Standings
  1. Tara Campbell 10-7 (59%)
  2. Adam Warren 18-13 (58%)
  3. Phillip Campbell 34-26 (57%)
  4. Jason Young 24-20 (55%)
  5. Daniel Campbell 34-28 (55%)
  6. Darrell Campbell 9-22 (29%)
  7. -----------------------------------
  8. Matthew Campbell 7-3 (70%)
  9. David Looper 7-6 (54%)
*Minimum 17 games to qualify*

League Notes

Hit Squad leads the league in points scored with 1471...Young Gun Football has the longest current winning streak at three games...Teams using three wide receivers in Week 14 went 3-1...Teams using three wide receivers are now 12-22 overall...The Lightning Division owns a 17-13 advantage over the Thunder Division...Peyton Manning is projected to lead all players with 23 points this week...Chris Johnson is projected to lead all ball carriers with 20 points...Hakeem Nicks is projected to lead all wide receivers with 12 points...Jason Witten is projected to lead all tight ends with nine points...Shane Graham and Nate Kaeding are projected to lead all claimed kickers with 10 points each...Tampa Bay is projected to lead all defenses with 13 points.

The Comeback Kids Press Conference-Week 15

Opening Statement: I was very pleased with the way we came out and played this weekend. Other than our receiving corps, I thought we played a very sound game of football. Our running game was obviously present in two of our backs, one of whom(Brandon Jacobs) was on the bench. It was a mistake on my part. I continue to underestimate Jacobs’ abilities. Let’s just put it this way….he has earned a starting spot for this week. Big MT, Michael Turner, has been playing his ass off recently and will continue to start and get around 25 carries a game. His 3 TD performance just shows me the kind of things that he is capable of.

Coach Campbell, what did you think of Peyton Manning’s performance? Peyton is the one of the few players on my team that we will live or die by. Sure, he had been in a slump in 4 of the previous 5 weeks. But Peyton’s slumps are still better than most other quarterbacks’ good days. I’m not worried about Peyton; He will straighten himself out. Peyton “Primetime” Manning is back to himself, and I look forward to seeing him shred the Jags this weekend. Next question.

How did you feel about the fans’ somber reaction to the result of your victory this weekend? Well you usually don’t expect lots of celebration in the stands with a victory on the road. But this week was different. The Hail Marys’ stadium is only about an hour and a half away. We had a good showing of about 30% Comeback Kids fans. But even they weren’t cheering for us after the win. We then found out that all of our fans and even all of the coaches in the league, with the exception of me, had put their money on The Hail Marys. That’s fine. We don’t need fans. Knowing that all of the coaches in the league voted against us just motivated us to go out and get the job done. And go figure, I just took a look at the votes for this coming week’s game. 4 out of 4 coaches so far have voted for me. That’s what I call bandwagon. Next question.

Are you tempted to change your team name again? Is that even a question?!? Changing your name is just like doing cocaine, it’s addicting…..if you don’t believe me, just ask Darryl Strawberry. The name had been fitting for our team up until this week. We actually played with a lead this week. We will remain the Comeback Kids the rest of the season though, as we don’t want to be fined by the crazy commish.

Coach Campbell, are you doing anything special to prepare for the Pessimists this week? Yeah, we are taking the guys out to Baskin Robins for ice cream cones every day after practice. And then we are tucking them in and reading them bedtime stories at night. Hell no, we are doing the same stuff we have done all along. I still feel like we have one of the best teams in the league and we have from the start. Our mentality hasn’t changed. It has always been a “show up first, leave last” attitude here in the clubhouse. As long as I’m in the big boy’s seat, it will remain that way. One minor detail that we have changed this week though, is that we have been very uplifting and encouraging toward each other. The way we look at it, you have to beat your opponents at their weakness. So I have built it into the guys’ heads…….we ARE going to win this weekend. The way I see it, 2 wins will probably get us in. So we are setting out to take care of business and hope that the stars align for us. Thanks, that's all.

Week 14 Recap

Game of the Week: The Comeback Kids (107) @ The Hail Marys (104)

Needing a win to stay alive in the playoff race, The Comeback Kids raced out to an early lead and were able to hold off a late comeback attempt by The Hail Marys. Michael Turner and the Pittsburg defense had huge days to lead the Kids to victory. Coach Daniel Campbell was pleased with Peyton Manning, who got back on track to the tune of 24 points this week. The Hail Marys had 4 players score in double figures in the losing effort, led by Donovan McNabb and Deion Branch with 21 points each. Coach Tara Campbell was notably upset with her kicker and defense after the game, stating that "no one's job is safe right now."

Manager Prediction Results
  1. Daniel Campbell 3-2 (60%)
  2. Adam Warren 2-3 (40%)
  3. Jason Young 2-3 (40%)
  4. Darrell Campbell 1-4 (20%)
  5. Phillip Campbell 1-4 (20%)
  6. Tara Campbell 1-4 (20%)
*Updated standings will be released in the Week 15 Preview*

Poll Results

The only unanimous vote in last week's poll was that Vince Young is the Titan's #1 problem this year.

Playoff Picture

With three weeks to play, every team is still alive in the playoff hunt. The Wolf Pack is in the best position overall with a two game lead over the sixth place team. Playoff scenarios will be posted in next week's recap.

League Notes

Hit Squad's loss ended a five game winning streak, which is tied for the league record with The Hail Marys...Six teams scored over 100 points in Week 14...Two teams scored over 100 points and lost...Three of the five games in Week 14 were decided by four points or less...Darren McFadden scored three touchdowns to lead all players with 38 points...Matt Schaub led all quarterbacks with 31 points...Andre Johnson grabbed 2 touchdown passes to lead all wide receivers with 26 points...Jason Witten is finally getting on track in Dallas, as evidenced by leading all tight ends with 18 points...David Akers led all claimed kickers with 14 points...Pittsburg led all defenses with 25 points.

Updated Standings

After 14 weeks, the actual standings are as follows:
  1. One-Man Wolf Pack
  2. The Hail Marys
  3. Hit Squad
  4. Young Gun Football
  5. Riley's Vikings
  6. Safety Blitz
  7. The Pessimists
  8. The Comeback Kids
  9. Charlie's Redrockets
  10. Illegal Alien Babies
Seeds are determined by:
  1. Division leaders are automatically seeds 1 and 2.
  2. Head to head results.
  3. Total points scored.
Example: The Hail Marys, Hit Squad, and YGF have identical 8-6 records. Because The Hail Marys are leading the Thunder Division, they automatically get the highest seed available. Hit Squad and YGF split their season series at one game a piece, so their seed is determined by total points scored, which is led by Hit Squad. Thus, he gets the higher seed.

Waivers have been adjusted to reflect the actual standings.

Barring inclement weather, I hope to get the Week 14 recap posted tomorrow. Our league is not going to be decided until the final week if everything holds true!

Safety Blitz Press Conference-Week 14

Opening Statement: We have had a great week of practice as we have prepared to face the Wolf Pack. My guys have a sense of urgency as we know the playoffs are only four weeks away. We have a stiff challenge this week but I am confident that we can rise to the occasion. I am looking for consistency out of my club for the last four weeks of the year as we have been unable to sustain any level of success so far this year.

Reporter: What influenced you to put Jonathan Stewart in your starting lineup this Sunday?

We feel very fortunate to have Jonathan on our roster. He was a late season acquisition that we believe will pay huge dividends. He has done a great job for us on the practice squad and we feel that he deserves an opportunity to play on Sunday.

Reporter: How has Thomas Jones handled being demoted to the practice squad?

TJ is veteran leader and a respected guy in our locker room. He will be the first one to tell you that he hasn't been getting it done on the field lately. He understands that this is a business and he puts winning above all else. Even though he isn't starting this week, he knows that he still has a very important role on this football team.

Reporter: What happened with the Matt Cassell experiment?

Matt Ryan is our starting quarterback, let me just begin with that. We brought in Cassel to give Ryan a break as this is the first time he has started this many games in a season. We took a chance that Cassel could step in and lead our offense for a week and he did an admirable job. Unfortunately his appendix ruptured and we kicked his ass to the curb. Matt Ryan will be under center for the remainder of the year.

Reporter: How many games do you need to win to clinch a playoff spot?

PLAYOFFS?!? PLAYOFFS?!? WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS?!?

Reporter: What is your strategy this week against the Wolf Pack?

We're going to take the same blue-collar approach we have used all year. We don't change our game plan for anyone. We're going to run the football, mix in some play-action pass, then turn it over to our rabid defensive unit to secure the victory.

Reporter: (Laughing) Is it true that you have read "The Three Little Pigs" to your team at the conclusion of practice every day this week? (Still laughing)

I TAKE THIS SERIOUS! REAL SERIOUS! I PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO THIS EVERY SINGLE WEEK! I DON'T GO OUT THERE AND LAUGH! IT'S NOT FUNNY! NOTHING'S FUNNY TO ME! I'M DONE WITH THIS INTERVIEW!

Week 14 Preview

Game of the Week: Safety Blitz (+5) @ One-Man Wolf Pack

This non-divisional matchup features two teams looking to stay in the playoff picture with four weeks left to play. Safety Blitz will look for Matt Ryan and Roddy White to team up for a big day against a weak Carolina defense. Coach Phillip Campbell will start running back Jonathan Stewart for the first time this season, looking for he calls 'a spark' off his bench. The Wolf Pack is hoping for another monster performance from Adrian Peterson, who faces off against the NY Giants. Coach Zach Maddux has said all week that running back LaDainian Tomlinson will get more touches on Sunday than he has in previous weeks as the team is preparing him for the playoffs. Look for this game to come down to the flex position for each team.

Riley's Vikings (+7) @ Charlie's Redrockets

These two teams are separated by one game in the standings entering Week 14, so this matchup could carry huge playoff implications. Riley's Vikings will continue to ride the shoulders of quarterback Tom Brady, who has been in an incredible zone lately. Coach Adam Warren said that he barely speaks to Brady during the week anymore "in fear of distracting his focus and concentration." Charlie's Redrockets will counter with a star quarterback of their own by the name of Aaron Rodgers. Coach Matthew Campbell is looking for his wide receivers to provide solid production to help overcome an unpredictable stable of running backs. Look for this game to be decided by each teams running back production.

Young Gun Football (-12) @ Illegal Alien Babies

Young Gun Football seems to be peaking at the right time and will look to continue their climb up the BHFFC standings against the Alien Babies. YGF is hopeful that receivers Andre Johnson and DeSean Jackson can continue to make big plays downfield. Coach Jason Young is also adamant that his running back production will continue to pick up as the cold weather moves into Pittsburg and New York. The Alien Babies are hoping for a shootout in New England so that quarterback Jay Cutler gets ample opportunity to throw the pigskin. Coach Darrell Campbell hopes that running backs Brian Westbrook and Fred Jackson get back on track in the run game this week, or at least that is what his translator deciphered from his tirade earlier this week. Look for the defenses to play a big role in this one.

The Pessimists (+15) @ Hit Squad

The Pessimists have the inevitable task of trying to slow down the Hit Squad this week as both of these teams seem to be moving in opposite directions. The Pessimists are hopeful (ha, ha) that their running game can get back on track this week. Coach BJ Hudson is trying a positive approach this week at practice for a change and his players seem to be responding. The Hit Squad will look to continue their winning ways behind all-everything running back Arian Foster. Coach David Looper is hopeful that quarterback Michael Vick will continue to ignite the Montery crowd without causing a riot. This game will be decided by whether or not The Pessimists can produce any type of production in their ground game.

The Comeback Kids (+13) @ The Hail Marys

This divisional matchup features two high powered offenses that are looking for consistency down the home stretch of the season. The Comeback Kids are hopeful that Peyton Manning will be able to overcome his recent stretch of poor play that has included 11 interceptions in 3 games. Coach Daniel Campbell hired a shrink for Peyton as well as for the rest of his squad this week, but many of his players are questioning if the shrink was hired for selfish reasons. The Hail Marys will look for Peyton Hillis to produce this week following an unusually subpar performance in Week 13. Coach Tara Campbell was seen at practice this week with a noose around Hillis' testicles in an effort to make him run harder. Look for this game to be decided by the wide receiver corps for each team.

Playoffs

To clear up some confusion among league members, here is a rundown of the playoffs and how they will work.

The BHFFC playoffs will begin during the NFL Wild Card weekend (Week 18). Seed 3 will play Seed 6. Seed 4 will play Seed 5. Seeds 1 and 2 get a first round bye. Seed 1 will play the lowest seeded winner after the wild card weekend. Seed 2 will play the highest seeded winner after the wild card weekend.

Teams will redraft EACH WEEK of the playoffs. This will be done by phone between the participants.

Manager Prediction Standings
  1. Adam Warren 16-10 (62%)
  2. Phillip Campbell 33-22 (60%)
  3. Jason Young 22-17 (56%)
  4. Daniel Campbell 31-26 (54%)
  5. Darrell Campbell 8-18 (31%)
  6. -----------------------------------

Week 13 Recap

Game of the Week: Riley's Vikings (92) @ The Hail Marys (94)

This battle for first place in the Thunder Division lived up to the hype, as The Hail Marys held off a furious comeback attempt by Riley's Vikings to secure the win. Riley's Vikings was led by a surprising 13 point performance from their Cleveland defense and a big day from wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Despite their performances, Coach Adam Warren found himself down by 21 points going into MNF with only Tom Brady left to play on roster. While Brady produced a whopping 37 point performance, it wasn't enough to overcome the 18 points combined that were scored by The Hail Marys' Santonio Holmes and Danny Woodhead. Coach Tara Campbell received big performances from Maurice Jones-Drew and tight end Vernon Davis, who finally looks to have regained his form following a mid-season injury.

Game of the Week II: Young Gun Football (98) @ The Comeback Kids (96)

All of the smack talk this week led to a great non-divisional showdown between these two organizations. YGF had 5 players score in double digits, led by Ahmad Bradshaw with 21 points. Coach Jason Young was very pleased with the play of running back Knowshon Moreno, who continues his late season surge in point production. The Comeback Kids had 6 players score in doulbe figures, led by quarterback Peyton Manning with 18. Coach Daniel Campbell was not pleased with Manning, however, as he threw four interceptions for the second week in a row.

Safety Blitz (99) @ Charlie's Redrockets (89)

Safety Blitz was able to go on the road and pull out a tough victory over Charlie's Redrockets. Safety Blitz received a 51 point performance from their three running backs, yet still found themselves down by 5 points heading into MNF. Coach Phillip Campbell called on Wes Welker to lead the comeback and the wide receiver responded with a 14 point effort to lead his team to victory. Charlie's Redrockets got huge performances from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and running back Chris Ivory, who combined to score 55 points. Coach Matthew Campbell was visibly upset with his NY Jets defense after the game, however, saying only that "nobody's butt is safe from Charlie's redrocket after tonight!"

The Pessimists (64) @ One-Man Wolf Pack (106)

The Pessimists had another dismal week offensively, as two players combined to score 0 points on their starting roster. Coach BJ Hudson was visibly upset on the sideline, repeatedly throwing his visor and uttering profanities. He refused to speak to reporters after the game, but did Tweet on Monday afternoon that "my team is garbage." The Wolf Pack defended their home turf behind a strong performance from Adrian Peterson, who shredded the Bills' defense for 28 points. Coach Zach Maddux was also pleased with the play of his wide receivers, who combined to score 39 points over the weekend.

Illegal Alien Babies (59) @ Hit Squad (131)

The Illegal Alien Babies ran into a buzzsaw over the weekend, as the Hit Squad continued their torrid pace of point production. The Aliens received another solid performance from running back LaGarrette Blount, who scored 16 points. Coach Darrell Campbell was disappointed in his receivers this week, as they combined to score six points. The Hit Squad had 6 players score in double figures, led once again by the dog catcher Michael Vick with 32 points. Coach David Looper was very pleased with his teams' performance, noting that "Reggie Wayne better keep catching the damn ball."

Pickup of the Week

This week's award goes to Coach Matthew Campbell, who picked up Chris Ivory and inserted him in the starting lineup to the tune of 23 points.

Poll Results

Oregon vs. Auburn was selected by 50% of the voters to win last week's poll question. The eight ballots cast was a season high.

Week 13 Preview

Game of the Week: Riley's Vikings (Even) @ The Hail Marys

This battle for first place in the Thunder Division is a rematch of their Week 6 encounter, which was won by Riley's Vikings 100-70. With both teams at full strength now, this should a game for the ages. Riley's Vikings is coming off a tough season-ending injury to All-Pro running back Frank Gore and will look to Ronnie Brown and Mike Tolbert to step up in his absence. Coach Adam Warren is relying heavily on quarterback Tom Brady, who has a tough matchup on MNF in Foxboro against the Jets. The Hail Marys will look to get back in the win column after having their league record five game winning streak snapped last week. Coach Tara Campbell placed an emphasis on her tight end and kicking games, as she believes they could make the difference in this contest. Look for this game to be decided on MNF.

The Pessimists (-2) @ One-Man Wolf Pack

These two teams have taken turns spending time in first place in the Lightning Division this year, and this game could once again determine at least a share of the Division lead. The Pessimists are looking for answers in their running game, as Chris Johnson and Jahvid Best look to rebound from horrendous performances last week. Coach BJ Hudson has closed all of his practices to the media this week and has restricted all media contact, only tweeting "We're jacked up and ready to play" early this week. One-Man Wolf Pack will look to defend The Wolves' Den behind Drew Brees and the Saints defense as they match up with a reeling Bengals team. Coach Zach Maddux is optimistic that running back Adrian Peterson will play and that LaDainian Tomlinson will regain his early season form. Look for this game to be determined by the production from each team's RB1 and RB2 positions.

Illegal Alien Babies (+31) @ Hit Squad

Arguably the two hottest teams in the BHFCC, these two Lightning Division rivals will strap it on for the second time this season. The Alien Babies have continued to improve their roster as the season has progressed, this week adding running backs Brian Westbrook and Toby Gerhart. Coach Darrell Campbell believes that Westbrook could provide the veteran leadership his team has been missing all year and get the Aliens into the playoff picture. The Hit Squad will look to continue their season high four game winning streak behind the Michael Vick, Arian Foster, and David Akers, who put up a combined 64 points on Thursday night to continue their recent scoring spree. Coach David Looper is concerned about his matchups at other positions, however, especially at running back. The key to this game will be if Fred Jackson can put up a fourth consecutive week with double digit points against a stiff Minnesota defense.

Young Gun Football (+4) @ The Comeback Kids

These two teams get together for their second meeting of the year and the smack talking started almost immediately following the conclusion of Week 12. YGF will look to their three running backs to lead the way on the road this week. Coach Jason Young is hopeful that his Green Bay defense can take advantage of a banged up San Francisco offense to pull off the victory. The Comeback Kids will look to continue their recent surge up the standings behind their three running backs, who all have favorable matchups this week. Coach Daniel Campbell expects a bounce back performance from quarterback Peyton Manning, who threw four interceptions in a loss to the Chargers last week. Look for this game to be decided by the production of each team's wide receivers.

Safety Blitz (-20) @ Charlie's Redrockets

This sibling rivalry has become personal, as it has been rumored that both camps refused to sit with each other during a meal at Camino earlier in the week. Safety Blitz is coming off a tough one-point loss and will look to maintain pace in the Thunder Division. Coach Phillip Campbell has revised his playbook to get Steven Jackson more carries and believes that could make the difference in his team turning the corner. Charlie's Redrockets sit just outside of the playoff picture and will look to pull off the upset behind upstart running backs Mike Goodson and Maurice Morris. Coach Matthew Campbell remains optimistic that his Jets' defense can regain their preseason form in their MNF showdown with the Patriots. Look for this game to be determined by the Chicago defense versus Maurice Morris.
